Textbooks

1. What are book substitutions?


Book substitutions is your way of choosing the type of book you would like to purchase - either New or Used. During your checkout process, if you select "OK to Substitute," we will substitute a New book for a Used if Used is not available, or a Used for a New if not available. There is no guarantee that the book preference you select is in stock - so if you would like to receive your book regardless of it being New or Used, the "Ok to Substitute" option is the best choice.

If you select "No Substitutions," we will cancel any book(s) where your exact choice is not available.

For either option, your order dollar total will be adjusted according to the books you receive.

2. What information do I need to purchase my textbooks?


A copy of your registration, which lists your courses (i.e. ENG101) and section numbers (i.e. Section 004), is required. This information can be found under your CWU Safari account. When purchasing your textbooks, whether it be in store or online, you will need to have this information readily available.

3. I was looking for my books online, and I can't find my course and/or section number anywhere!


If you cannot find your course number or section number listed on our web site, this usually means that either your professor has not ordered a textbook; therefore, you don't need a book. If you are certain that there is a book for your class, we recommend that you contact your professor to see if a book is required.

4. How long are textbooks available for each quarter?


Our Textbook department begins to change for the next quarter about 6 weeks into a quarter. This allows us to return unsold textbooks and prepare for next quarter's inventory. We recommend you place your textbook orders prior to this 6 week period in order to receive your textbooks in a timely manner.

5. Why are you already sold out of a textbook?


Textbook ordering is based on expected enrollment before an academic quarter begins. Late registration during the week prior and after the quarter starts often expands enrollment beyond original expectations. Consequently, shortfalls in textbook inventory arise, primarily due to over enrollment situations. If you order a textbook through our web site that is sold out, you will be notified that it is out of stock and asked if you would like the bookstore to special order a copy for you. If you choose to have a textbook special ordered, it cannot be canceled or returned for a refund. Special ordered textbooks will generally be shipped to you within 3-4 business days.

6. What are Special Orders?


Special orders are orders for textbooks that we have either sold out of or are no longer available for purchase. For both students visiting us in store and online, the option for Special Ordering a textbook is available. Special Orders are non-returnable, non- refundable, usually take a 2-3days to arrive in store (and another 2-3 days to arrive for those wishing the book shipped), and are prepaid. There is no guarantee that your book will be New or Used.

Course Packs

1. What are Coursepacks?


Coursepacks are a pack of material compiled from multiple texts that your professor selects for a given course. The Custom Publishing Department clears copyrights with each text and compiles them. Since it is only parts of textbooks, you don't have to pay the full price for each book, therefore, you save money. Coursepacks are non-refundable, non-exchangeable.

Textbook Pickup

1.What is In-Store Textbook Pickup?


In Store textbook Pickup is an option at checkout for those students on the Ellensburg campus to pick up their books in store instead of having them shipped. Textbook pickup is an easy (and fast!) option if you do not wish to come into the store to pick your own textbooks and wait in line for checkout. Before each quarter starts, there will be a Textbook Pickup window in which you can come and pick up the textbooks you ordered.

2. How do I order textbooks for In-Store pickup?


The pickup option will be available on the first screen of the checkout process in the "Delivery Options" pull down menu. The Textbook pickup option will only be available 1 month prior to the start of a new quarter to a few days before quarter starts. If the option is not available when you go to select your delivery option, the pickup option has passed and you either have to come into store to purchase your books or select to have them shipped.

3. How do I pickup my textbooks that were ordered online?


Textbook ordered online for pickup will be available for pickup 48 to 72 hours after you place your order, if all your textbooks are in. You will receive a receipt of your textbook order letting you know that your order is processed and ready for pickup. Your textbooks will not be ready for pickup until you receive that email, so please wait until you receive the receipt. To ensure a speedy pickup, please have your CWU student ID or a valid picture ID (Driver's License is fine) and a copy of your receipt ready when you come to pickup your books. Orders not picked up after 5:00pm on April 11th will be re-shelved and a $15 restocking fee will be charged to the your account.

Payment

How do I pay for my Textbooks?


1. We accept several forms of payment:

Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard, and Discover)
You can pay your online order with a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover card. To pay with a credit or debit card, select "Credit Card" in the Payment Method drop menu during checkout. You will later be prompted for the billing information. Please note that when paying online with a credit/debit card, the Billing Address you enter must match the address the card issuer has on file. Failure to supply the correct billing address will cause the payment to decline and the order will be delayed or cancelled.

Student Charges/Financial Aid
You can pay for your online order with your student account by selecting the "finacial aid" option in the payment drop down menu during checkout. You will later be prompted to enter your account number (your student ID number) to finish the process.Please be sure to properly enter in your ID number! If you enter it in incorrectly, your order will be declined and you will not get your books quickly.

1. How do I cancel my order?

2. I'm confused about the ordering process, can I call you to place an order?

3.I've placed an order, but it says online that the order is still pending. What's going on?


There are several things that might be delaying your order.

If you are ordering textbooks during Rush (the month prior to the start of a new quarter and the week following the start of quarter), we could be waiting on books to arrive to complete your order or waiting till closer to the start of quarter to process all book orders. If this is the case, please be patient! If your order still hasn't been processed the week before quarter starts, please feel free to contact us.

If your order is pending and it is not Rush, please feel free to contact us to see what the hang up is.

4.I've already placed an order but would like to add/delete something from my order. How can I do that?


As long as the order has not been processed, we can add or delete items as you see fit. Please contact us at 509-963-1648 or 509-963-1512.

5. How quickly are online orders processed?


We are usually pretty quick at processing orders - as long as it is not during Rush. Non- Rush orders are usually processed within 2-3 business days. During Rush (the month before a new quarter starts to about a week after quarter has started), however, processing orders will slow to accommodate the number of orders we receive. Orders for pickup are processed, mostly, about one to two weeks before the quarter starts- this allows ample time for most textbooks to be on the shelf and available for order fulfillment. Orders to be shipped will be mailed as soon as the order is completed.

6. When I place an order online, when will I be charged?


You will only be charged after we have pulled and verified the books that you have ordered. Before this point, you have not been charged for anything . Once we have processed your order, you will be charged.

7.The amount that I was charged does not match the price I was quoted. Why?


Some of the books you requested may not be in the option (New or Used) that you originally selected. Because of this, the amount you were quoted for initially may either increase or decrease, depending on what type of book you are given.
